Good news for Delhitians! Delhi Metro is introducing something new for you! Now, you can travel to Delhi Metro without a card.

 

Delhitians can travel hassle-free with the update that DMRC is launching. The automatic fare machines are being installed. People can now easily pay the fare without a debit or credit card.

New Delhi: Metro commuters now have a convenient way to pay for their rides. Now you don’t need to purchase a token or any smart card to travel via the metro. Automatic Fare Machines (AFMs) will be installed at select metro stations throughout the city.

New AFC at 44 stations

AFC (Automatic Fare Collection) will be launched in 44 stations. Apart from smart cards, you can pay your fare via debit or credit card Near Field Communication (NFC), QR code-based ticketing mobile phones and paper QR tickets. The AFM will be launched soon in 44 stations.

The Airport line facility

According to the official statement of DMRC, the new system will encourage more digitization of services. DMRC wants to set cashless and human error-free transactions, and this is done so that passengers can travel hassle-free. They said, “We are also upgrading AFC firmware”. AFC firmware will allow passengers to use credit/debit cards as their smart cards.

Acceptance of every bank cardDelhi MetroNo matter if you are an SBI card holder, Axis or HDFC. Delhi Metro cooperation enables you to use any debit or credit card. This facility is available in 2 metropolitan cities, Kochi and Nagpur. But apart from debit or credit cards, passengers can also pay via the RuPay portal.

How will you be able to pay the fares?

You can pay your Delhi metro fares by

  • Smart card
  • National Common mobility card
  • Paper QR ticketing
  • Mobile Based NFC (Near Field Communication Ticketing)
  • Mobile QR Code Based Ticketing

No penalty will be deducted from the smart card.

When you travel in the metro and time exceeds, you pay the exceeding time penalty in cash at the time of exit, but now to make the process smooth, the penalty deduction will be possible through smart cards. But yes, passengers need to go to the customer care service window and pay the penalty via their smart cards.

DMRC will integrate ticketing machines and Point of Sale (POS) terminals in the customer service areas of Phase-I and Phase-II stations. This smart card also supports POS recharging.
